The images in the series 'Plastic Areas' * (craters, holes, depressions, pits, sinkholes etc.) are inspired from by science and art. This series deals with the idea of collapse and system failure. This is a continuation of the series 'About Forgetting' that dealt with forgetfulness and loss, as well as the correlation between natural disasters and neurological phenomens that cause personal disasters like degeneration and illness. The works in the series 'Plastic Areas' place the image of the hole/pit in various appearances, as a cognitive image that symbolizes collapse and immobilizes this state. Questions of 'before' and 'after' are raised, about  the events  we don't see, those we can only imagine. This is a state where the disaster is an axiom, and what is on stake is our ability to adapt ourselves and deal with known and unknown consequences.

* The term is taken from Neurology and refers to the plasticity of the neurological system that allows it to adapt its activities to changes in conditions, based on previous experiences. There are areas in the neurological system that are flexible, they are called  'Plastic Areas'. Any change of function in these areas, will cause changes in the activity of the whole system.
